Heretat de Taverners is the name of the vineyard  where our winery is situated.  It is also known as "Casas de Colaus", and it is located in the area called "Partida de Micons" or "La Rambla" in Fontanars dels Alforins, a village situated in Vall d'Albaida (Valencia).  The name reminds  the "vern" (birch tree).The winery is settled on the ancient house, a farm built in 1667, which has been restored by the present owners.  The wine production is registered in the property declarations of Ontinyent (the winery belonged to this village then) in 1738 and 1782. The present property, which performs through Heretat de Taverners S.A., has  completely changed the vineyards, that hold an area of 25 Ha.  All of them are planted in "espaldera".  Varieties have been chose through deep and previous research: local and traditional varieties (as monatrell or garnacha tintorera) have been respected.  Prestigious and quality varieties (as cabernet - sauvignon, merlot, chardonnay and tempranillo) have been introduced.  Other varieties (as graciano) have been experimentally and successfully developed.
